Sounding off on American Idol

WOW, what a week. Where to start.

I thought Felicia Barton rocked the house. I wasn't really attached to Joanna, so it wasn't a great loss to me that she was DQ'd. I think the judges picked an awesome replacement in Felicia, and I voted for her! I was disappointed she didn't make it through, and even more disappointed that the judges didn't call her back for the Wild Card round (more on that later).

Jorge didn't impress me. Sure, he's come a long way with his dialect coach, but that didn't make him a better singer than some of the others.

My dad was cringing (is there a stronger form of that word?) during Nathaniel's performance. He's.....funny. (Nathaniel, not my dad.) (Though my dad is funny too. But in a different way.) Not my style...................

Lil was great, though not my cup of tea.

Scott McIntyre did a good job too, and I voted for him, but the song? My mom liked it, and that pretty much sums it up (sorry Mom, no offense, but you WERE playing the Carpenters and Neil Diamond last night....).

Taylor, our other Utah girl, didn't impress me either.
And Kristen McNamara always bugged me.

NOW, let's talk Wild Card.

Not so pleased with who they called back. Jasmine? No thanks. And as previously mentioned, they didn't choose Felicia......but Tatiana?!!!! COME ON, PEOPLE.

I've always liked Anoop. Couldn't care less about the other guys.

And I've always loved Megan (again, not just because she's from my hometown).

And ah, Tatiana. The drama queen only a mother could love. Did you just love how her accent suddenly appeared? I enjoyed how Kara called her on it. And Simon's obvious dislike. I knew I loved Simon. Especially when Kara and the others were saying they didn't know that girl up there.....the gist of Simon's response? 'Nope, that's the same old Tatiana.' I couldn't agree more. Whether or not the accent is authentic is irrelevant at this point. Her claim that it just comes out when she's excited is BULL. Um, remember sweetheart? We've unfortunately seen you excited before.
Well, I guess at least she wasn't forgettable, like so many of the others.

I was floored that they chose Tatiana to be in the Wild Card round and thrilled and relieved when she didn't make it to the top 13. I think she was playing the accent card because people love Jorge and his accent and he was popular enough to get voted through. Isn't it interested how there are 8 guys and only 5 girls in the top 13?

I share most of your sentiments-
Felicia, Jorge, Nathaniel, Scott, Taylor,
where we disagree:
I liked Kristen McNamara and voted for her-I thought she had a strong, unique voice-if only she'd realized she should have been doing Kelly Clarkson/Megan ish songs I think she would have done well. Instead she decided to suffer in Karaoke land.
Lil & Jasmine will add variety to the 13. I hate seeing the same type of thing over and over again-even if it is more my thing- but agreed not my music.
Tatiana-I think the judges/america made a mistake-when people buy tickets to see the American Idol concert I believe they will be disappointed she is not there "Saving all her Love". She shouldn't win, but her drama and suprising vocal chops will be missed.
