Sometimes life is hard.

Little Susie was doing better, we thought. But....the x-ray and blood tests showed some things. So she's being treated for pneumonia, and she just got a spinal tap to check for meningitis. We won't be leaving the hospital until Friday at the earliest. Things are going to be okay, it just sucks. (Pardon my use of that crude word that I hate.) The antibiotics have to be administered via IV, which is unfortunate because she was eating well enough so far that she didn't have to have one. One more tube to negotiate to hold and take care of her.

Seeing your baby like this is hard. But I should be grateful it isn't worse. As I sat there crying last night, I thought to myself, "I'm not the first mother to sit in this room crying, and I won't be the last." Susie is going to be okay, it is just going to take time. Others aren't so lucky.

As mentioned before (when mastitis and a new baby were all we were dealing with...and that seemed like plenty) we have terrific friends. I can't think of a way to express how grateful I am for them without resorting to cliches, so let me just say I don't know how we would be surviving all this without them. Again, thanks guys. Really.

Oh Heather I am so sorry. That would be so hard to see your little baby all hooked up to IVs and sick.
