I have a one-eyed cat
I'm so sad about this, still a bit teary, in fact (Mary, I know you will empathize with me on this). I got my cat, Daisy, when I was in 9th grade, I think...maybe 8th grade. I weasled my dad into it, despite the fact we already had a dog and my mom didn't want a cat. But my mom loves her just as much as I do now. Daisy has been a part of the family for so long. She's outlived two other pets. In the last year, she developed this weird fungus patch on her head, right above her eye. The vet did some probing, and found beyond that, a completely unrelated problem. A tumor. She had surgery about a month ago to take it out. My parents didn't tell me this until after it was over. They were afraid of how I would react. The surgery seemed to go fine, but then when I went out for a visit to Utah, the tumor had come back. It was so sad....it lifted her eyelid up away from her eye. Well, this last week, Daisy went in for surgery again. And yesterday, I found out (another little something I don't know if my parents were going to tell me) that they decided to take out her eye, to make sure they got it all. It was lucky they did, because there was a branch of the tumor behind her eye, so it would have come back if they hadn't. But it just broke my heart to hear. They sewed it shut...so she just has fur instead of a beautiful green eye. My dad says she is doing great, recovering just fine. And he also said "Better a one-eyed cat than no cat at all." I guess he's right.

Oh, poor Daisy! That's a shame about her eye, but it is worth it to save her life. At least she can still see out of the one she has. It is so sad to witness the aging of a beloved pet. I'm glad to hear she came out of her surgery just fine.
Daisy! Poor cat! Speaking of poor cats...my parents' cat Sneakers (who is like 13 years old or something) is losing all his fur and we were all convinced he was sick and dying but after a thorough examination the cause.....stress from the stupid, yippy, Miniature Pincer Zoe (aka "devil dog")that Danielle just HAD to have! How sad to lose your fur because you are so stressed out from an annoying dog bothering you all the time! Anyway, my heart goes out to Daisy!
Oooh poor kitty. I am sorry she has been so sick but I am glad that she will recover. I can't wait to see some pictures and hear about your trip to Utah! hint hint. Did you like 13th Tale? I am excited for our reading group.
Poor Daisy!! I hope she's not in pain... We can start calling her Popeye... or Captain Hook?? No?? That's right, he's missing a hand, not an eye. Well, is Daisy sporting an eye patch? She'd be he coolest cat on the block with one of those on... Poor Daisy... I hope she stays nice and health from now on!
